Dream Team Bio

Eliza Sampey

One sport is not enough for Eliza. She delights in mixing, matching and getting creative with how she moves through landscapes. Combining disciplines like bikepacking, packrafting, ski mountaineering, adventure running and more into single trips, Eliza has travelled far and wide from her Minnesota roots. This winter will likely see her moving about the rugged mountains of the American west in her signature style, but expect her to head abroad soon. Wild places are important, but Eliza is also focused on cultural interconnection and broadening her backcountry and human perspective. We know that one sport is not enough for Eliza, and we are becoming skeptical that one world is not enough. Is space tourism for the people yet?

What is your greatest triumph in the outdoors?

I’d have to say breaking the women’s record in the Arizona Trail 750 in 2019. It’s a 750-mile self-supported mountain bikepacking race from Mexico to Utah. I had a lot going on in life leading up to the race, so I was just happy to get to the starting line. Beating the long-standing record by a mere two hours with a time of 9 days, 11 hours, and 44 minutes was just icing on the cake.
