Katie Griffith

Katie Griffith is a freelance writer and climbing guide who thrives in outdoor classrooms, whether she’s scrambling in the high desert, hiking in a temperate rainforest, or climbing glaciated peaks. Originally from Minnesota, she grew up swatting mosquitoes and paddling the lakes of the North Woods. She now splits her time between Joshua Tree, California and the Cascades in Washington, teaching climbing and backcountry skills in both regions, depending on the season.

Katie believes that climbing is a powerful tool for personal development. In her work as a guide and writer, her goal is to share the lessons at the intersection of climbing and life. She also loves creating space for women to gain competency with climbing technical skills. When she’s not helping folks engage with the outdoors, she loves exploring cities by bicycle, swimming in glacier-fed rivers, doodling, and climbing steep, granite cracks.
